





2D Animation Online Intensive: June 28-July 2nd
Create your own character and learn the basic skills needed to make the character come alive on screen. Students will improve their drawing skills as they create a hand-drawn sequence that tells a story using simple actions.
THIS IS A GOOD CONCENTRATION IF YOU: Love cartoons and anime. Visualize the look of characters and settings when reading. Daydream in full color with moving images.
Detailed Description
This one-week course that will help you explore the exciting field of 2D Hand Drawn Animation. Students can choose to work with traditional or digital media. In this course you will be able to:
- Recite and identify the 12 principles of animation
- Plan and organize projects with storyboards
- Create individual an animation short
- Edit footage and export playable files
The Entertainment Arts Online Intensive instructor will be Kresge Award Winning Animator Josh Mulligan.
Each morning and afternoon, classes will connect via Zoom sessions that will be used for small-group live video chats, demos, and lectures that teach industry drawing techniques. You will work on assignments independently, develop your visual vocabulary, and create portfolio-quality work. You will also have a one-on-one session with your professor and portfolio guidance from an admissions counselor. 10am-2:30pm eastern standard time. See tentative schedule posted with images.

Students can choose to work with traditional or digital mediums.
Supplies needed for students working with both traditional and digital mediums:
- Pencils
- Plain unlined paper, such as copy paper
- Eraser
- Sharpie fine tip and regular
- Ruler
- Camera (Phone camera is fine)
- Stop Motion App
Supplies needed for students working with traditional mediums:
- Pad of 11”x 17” Smooth Bristol Paper
- Preferred method of coloring, i.e. color pencils, watercolors, gouache
- Wacom Tablet or Cintiq
- Procreate
- Access to Photoshop or Clip Studio
- Scanner
Courses will meet over Zoom in small groups of 15 or less students. Classes will be recorded and transcribed for quality purposes and made available in the event a student cannot attend class. Recordings will be deleted after 60 days.
