Learn the essential skills of a fashion illustrator.
THIS IS A GOOD CONCENTRATION IF YOU: Have your own sense of style. Like mixing colors, textures, and patterns. See clothing as an art form.
This three week remote course will help you explore the world of fashion illustration.
In this course, you will:
- Develop design and drawing skills
- Create work for your college admissions portfolio.
- Meet experienced industry professionals working in the fashion industry.
- Learn how to express fabric patterns and textures in two dimensions.
The Athletic Shoe Design Online Intensive lead instructor will be Julie Muszynski. Julie has worked in the New York fashion industry for over 25 years. Her work was recently selected by Alexander McQueen for their outdoor Covid-19 Thank You campaign ruining in London, Milan and New York.
Throughout the program guest speakers will join the class to provide feedback and behind the scenes insights into the fashion world.
Each afternoon, classes will connect via Zoom sessions that will be used for small-group live video chats, demos, and lectures that teach industry design and drawing techniques. You will work on assignments independently, develop your visual vocabulary, and create portfolio-quality work. You will also have one-on-one sessions with your professor and portfolio guidance from an admissions counselor. See tentative schedule for reference.

Computer Access and Technical Requirements
A virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) system will be implemented for this course. This will allow students to access a virtual Windows desktop with Adobe Illustrator software installed. The VDI system will allow students to use their personal device (Mac or Windows) to access the software that will run on powerful servers at CCS. Students may also use their own computers if they have access to Adobe Illustrator.
A list of supplies needed for the class will be posted soon.
Courses will meet over Zoom in small groups of 15 or less students. Classes will be recorded and transcribed for quality purposes and made available in the event a student cannot attend class. Recordings will be deleted after 60 days.
