An overview of the field of interior design, this course will show you the methods used to create a room that is physically, visually and intellectually satisfying. Instruction includes basic principles of space planning, drafting, Interior Design Software, color theory, and materials and finishes. Students work toward creating a floorplan, elevations, and an idea board for a residential room. Enrollment is limited to 8 students. A list of supplies that are suggested for this course are listed below.

Materials – First Class

  • Home Magazines – variety of catalogs or Magazines
  • Any Images of Favorite Interiors 
  • Laptop if you have one

Materials - 2nd Class

  • Several Sheets of 8 ½ x 11 OR 11x17 Vellum Paper
  • “Trash Paper” Roll Or Trace Paper
  • Drafting Pencil and Lead
  • Architectural Drafting Scale/Ruler
  • 24” Straight Edge Metal Ruler
  • X - acto Knife and Blades

Materials – Last Class

  • 20 x 30 Black or White Foam Core
  • Rubber Cement
  • Mounting Tape
