Communication Design Online Intensive - August 2-6

Discover how design can make messages more powerful.  Learn the core principles of print-based graphic design — and create impactful designs using language and typography.

THIS IS A GOOD CONCENTRATION IF YOU: Come up with lots of ideas. Appreciate good design. Like to organize and make things look better. 

Detailed Description

This one week course will help you explore Communication Design using hand-drawn techniques. In this course, you will:

  • Explore the ways in which Communication Design (graphic design) can influence a message
  • Create your own font and graphic designs
  • Build your college admissions portfolio
  • Meet experienced industry professionals
  • Learn under the direction of CCS Communication Design faculty.

Each morning and afternoon, classes will connect via Zoom sessions that will be used for small-group live video chats, demos, and lectures that teach typography.  You will work on assignments independently, develop your Adobe skills, and create portfolio-quality work.  10am-2:30pm eastern standard time. You will have the amazing opportunity to interact with experts in the field and get insights into the professional world of communication design. The week will culminate with individual reviews with your instructor.

This course can be completed by students using analog or digital tools. A pencil, a brush, marker, paper, ink, and/or a personal computer and the Adobe Creative Suite.

Supplies that you will need to have on hand to participate in the class will be shared with students and listed below.

Required supplies: pencils, brushes, ink, paint, paper, scissors, old magazines,

Optional supplies: color paper or black paper, soft modeling clay.

 

Courses will meet over Zoom in small groups of 15 or less students. Classes will be recorded and transcribed for quality purposes and made available in the event a student cannot attend class. Recordings will be deleted after 15 days.
