COLLEGE PREP DRAWING ONLINE INTENSIVE

Solid observational drawing skills are key to every art and design discipline. This program moves the student into a more volumetric understanding of drawing, and includes emphasis on drawing fundamentals, and formal composition and design.

THIS IS A GOOD CONCENTRATION IF YOU: Get inspired by the work of great masters. Sketch and doodle in class. Think abstractly. Want to build your portfolio, but aren't sure which major is right for you.

Detailed Description

Students and professionals alike are sometimes challenged by their ability to quickly indicate visual ideas in an easily understandable form. Drawing Studio Online Intensive is designed to provide students with the skills they need to create original and compelling works of art. This one-week course will help you be prepared for art and design college.

In this course, you will:

  • Develop design and drawing skills
  • Focus on fundamental observational drawing skills
  • Create work for your college admissions portfolio
  • Learn under the direction of CCS faculty
  • Meet nationally known artist

The Drawing Studio Online Intensive lead instructor will be David Flaugher, Professor of Foundations. Flaugher has exhibited throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Exhibitions featuring his work have received write ups in Sculpture Magazine, Flash Art, and The New York Times. This year, his work will be featured at And Now in Dallas, TX, at LOMEX in New York, NY and at the Museum of Modern Art Warsaw, where an installation of his was recently added to the museum’s permanent collection.

Each day, classes will connect via Zoom sessions that will be used for small-group live video chats, demos, and lectures that teach fundamental observational drawing techniques that are vital for a winning portfolio. You will work on assignments independently, develop your visual vocabulary, and create portfolio-quality work. You will also have one-on-one sessions with your professor and portfolio guidance from an admissions counselor. 10am-2:30pm eastern standard time. See tentative schedule posted with images.

Students will have the amazing opportunity to interact with nationally known artists.
