"The Art of Design Thinking"

This first course in the series will examine the tenets of design, design thinking, and its application in art education pedagogy. Establishing the foundation for thinking and practice in the remaining modules, students will acquire fundamental understandings about design thinking and its intersections with traditional studio curriculum.
The course is ‘designed’ so that teachers can immediately implement design thinking practices in real-time within their teaching contexts. In addition, opportunities to think through design problems visually will afford opportunities for art-making experience’s during the course.
The course will be delivered asynchronously on CANVAS, with weekly readings and assignments. Students can expect to spend roughly 6.25 hours a week, some of which will take place within the context of their classrooms.
This course is a prerequisite for other classes in the "Certificate of Design Thinking for K-12 Art Educators."
The class is limited to 15 participants.
